Overdose on studs! (DIY alert) - Studded denim jacket, jeans, shorts, converse...

What I have been up to this past month... studding!

I have to say it can become a little addictive, I am constantly thinking, "what can I stud next?!" - no item of clothing or garment is safe, I tell you!

Super super easy to do and something I find very relaxing.

Creation + de-stressing - perfect combo!

What you need:

1) Studs, I got mine from ITEMFACTORY (they have a great range and it was shipped really quickly).

2) A knife or other utensil which will bend the backs of the spikes easily.

3) Jeans, shorts, jackets, waistcoats, converse, scarves, whatever!

Have fun and go stud!

(DIY alert) Make your own 'boyfriend' jean shorts #DIY

A few weeks ago my better half was having a closet clear out and I thought I would get my 'creative' on (work what he has and turn it into something new for me YEY).  So with 2 pairs of his jeans, scissors and a few knives (bread knife and a smaller knife) I got to work.

After some cutting, scratching and 'destroying' I have made myself some 'boyfriend' denim shorts.

If you want to do it, it's pretty simple:

1) Try them on and draw a small mark of where you want to cut them (important note - always cut them LONGER than you think as you can always cut more fabric off, you can never put fabric back.  I found that even giving them that little bit extra before cutting them made them JUST the right length (after turning them up).

2) Difficult how to explain this but, take the BOTTOM of the jeans as the mark of how to cut them (as you will find when you lay the jeans on the floor the front/back of the waistband do not always match together (see 2nd pic), so let them 'fall' like this on the floor, making sure the BOTTOMS of the jeans match together and then cut the denim according to that line.

3) I don't bother measuring the exact length I have cut one leg to the other, I just fold them over (see 3rd pic), match up the stitch/thread lines and then cut them.

4) Now for the cool part - cut/rip some holes in the jeans to get that worn / vintage look.  Use the scissors to start cutting the hole and then rip the jeans to get the 'natural' tear / rip look.  To be honest I could have gone crazy on the 'destroying' part, so may 'revisit' these shorts again for some more torn / worn parts.  You can also use a grater or nail file to create more frayed / ripped bits.

I found the easiest way was to put a magazine between the jean legs and then 'saw' with the bread knife until the denim get 'fuzzy' and you see the threads, then you can then rip them a bit more and destroy them which ever way you want.  Just try and see what technique works best for you.

5) Chuck on a belt, wait for warmer weather OR wear with black tights.  Ta da - done!

Nail trend - Ring Finger Manicure (as seen on Vanessa Hudgens)

I am loving this trend right now.  As seen on Vanessa Hudgens and many of the girls I follow on Instagram it involves painting your ring finger a different colour from the rest.

It's up to you if you want to paint it a complimentary colour or something completely different.  Why not get creative and give it some sparkle, create an animal print or match the ring finger colour to your toenails?

Nails rock - such an easy way to accessorise and how easy is this - with a quick change of nail varnish on your ring finger you can create a new look!

I did mine with Essie "Mint Candy Apple" and Miss Sporty "Metal Shine".

Get painting, Get creative!

(DIY alert) Mens sweatshirt to slouchy jumper #DIY

So I am still on my 'no shopping / only window shopping' mission and in this time I have been getting creative with the clothes I (and in this case, my husband) have.

In this edition - how to create your own slouchy sweatshirt in 3 easy steps:

1) Cut the neckline in a straight / scooped line (so that it hangs off your shoulder)
2) Cut off the bottom
3) Cut off the cuffs and roll the sleeves up
Done!

(DIY Alert) How to make your own Chanel / YSL T-shirt and tank #DIY

Fake it til you make it!

Number 1: Go shopping (yey!!!)
Shopping list:
- White or grey t-shirt / vest (for instance from H&M or Zeeman / Hema, in The Netherlands)
- Textile pens (in whatever colours you want)
- Printer paper / ink

Number 2: Save and print the logo
Save the Chanel / YSL / Gucci or whatever logo you want onto a word doc (make is as big as you can to fit an A4 / print margins)

Number 3: Get drawing
Put the logo underneath the t-shirt and draw the outline, then fill it in.   If you are putting it on a grey t-shirt/vest, that you cannot see through, cut out the stencil and draw the outline of stencil onto the garment

Number 4: Wear your creation with pride :)
I think it looks really cool on a 'boyfriend fit' t-shirt (one that is a little baggier) then you can roll up the sleeves if it's a t-shirt to also make it into a vest ;)

Enjoy creating and wearing!
